Removal of pilings and fill Volunteer planting from November 2000 Site of mudflat at intersection of 11th and Marine View Drive Salt marsh vegetation along the mudflat.
Removal of pilings and fill and distribution of fresh water to a larger portion of the site will facilitate intertidal plant growth. On November 18, 2000, volunteers assisted the Trustees in the first upland planting for this site. The next planting will occur in the spring of 2001. The site is a protected mudflat adjacent to 11th Street at its intersection with Marine View Drive. Salt marsh vegetation exists at the site in a shallow band (fringe marsh) along the mudflat.

Most of the pilings will be removed from the site with the exception of those that serve as habitat for purple martins. It is the intention of the Trustees to increase the salt marsh vegetation to provide habitat which has been lost in the Bay. Restoration will include pulling back the shoreline by removing fill and planting native species to develop an intertidal plant nursery. At present the site is upland fill and often used for illegal debris dumping.
